Tottenham Hotspur sealed their ticket into the knockout rounds of the UEFA Europa League after defeating Partizan Belgrade with a narrow 1-0 victory with Benjamin Stambouli scoring the only goal of the entire match at the 49th minute.
The match however, had to be stopped on a few occasions after several individuals made their way into the pitch of the White Hart Lane Stadium and security guards chased them around for some moments before the match could continue rolling on. The referee, Yevhen Aranovskiy had to suspend the game on a few instances due to the fans getting their way into the playing grounds.
On September, Partizan Belgrade was banned due to their fans displaying an anti-Semitic banner and the club received a partial stadium closure but this time around it was Tottenham Hotspur which has been hit with sanctions due to their own fans entering the pitch on occasions.
Due to all the incidents which occurred in the match, UEFA has now opened a case that will force Tottenham on having to step up and face the consequences in what seemed to be a marketing stunt as all 3 pitch invaders were wearing T-shirts that promoted a company that creates official Tottenham merchandise.
All of the pitch invaders were arrested following the incident and the Premier League club, Tottenham Hotspur later went on apologizing to fans for the behavior of those people involved in the incident and for all of the problems that it might have caused.
A disciplinary panel is expected to judge which charges will be made towards Tottenham Hotspurs on December 11.
Recently, a series of rather bizarre or unexpected events have been occurring involving Tottenham as this incident with the pitch invaders isn’t the only thing which has popped up lately.
The White Hart Lane Stadium is being redeveloped and a business which is right next to the football building was set on fire. According to the owner of the Archway Sheet Metal factory, the fire was started by fans of Tottenham as he has already been receiving death threats.
The owner of the business is opposing the decision of the authorities of Tottenham on building a new £100m stadium and he has now revealed that things are getting dangerous for him after having received death threats and now a huge fire happened right in the last piece of land which is needed to expand the stadium. The club has tried to buy this site for over 10 years.
